A Short Mindful Breathing Guided Meditation
I am not sure who to acknowledge for this brief practice but whoever you are ‘thank you’ for it! This practice is an easy way to remember to stop and and bring attention and awareness to whatever is going on for you in the moment especially if you are experiencing stress of any sort. It can also be used over 24hrs at regular intervals either to bring awareness of your mind-body state in any given moment, and as a preventitive of stress build-up.
S – Stop/pause on purpose
T – Take a few mindful breaths
O – Observe what is going on: sensations, feelings, thoughts
P – Choose how you will proceed
The acronym RAIN – Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture – guides us in bringing mindfulness and compassion to difficult emotions. With practice, we can find our way home to open-hearted presence in the midst of whatever arises.
